Who We Service

Encompass Pediatric Feeding Clinic offers specialized feeding therapy for children in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Children serviced display feeding deficits, oral motor deficiency, food aversion, or food selectivity. Additional medical diagnoses may include but are not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Down Syndrome, and Failure to Thrive (FTT).

Team Members

Our multidisciplinary feeding team consists of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (BCS-S). Additional team members available for consultation include a Pediatric Gastroenterologist (Pediatric GI) and an Occupational Therapist (OT).

Treatment Process

Each child receives an individualized treatment plan with therapy from an SLP, BCBA, registered behavior technicians (RBTs), and behavior technicians. The SLP targets desensitization on the child’s face and within the child’s mouth for the acceptance of feeding tools and food textures. Oral motor deficits are addressed in order to establish adequate muscle tone, range of motion, strength, and coordination to manipulate and manage food for consumption with developmentally appropriate skills.

In addition, a behavioral approach will be utilized when implementing feeding therapy for each individual within their ABA therapy session. This will include interventions such as positive reinforcement, differential reinforcement, preference assessments, shaping procedures, and chaining procedures.
